Wedding Suppliers: A Checklist

If you’re here because you’re planning a wedding – a huge congratulations from us all at Dewsall! You may be wondering where to start, so to help you get stuck in we’ve got an insight into the incredible variety of vendors you could need to help you with your celebrations!
Venue/Catering
The first step for any newly engaged couple is finding the perfect venue. It will be the part of your planning which everything else will revolve around.
Choosing a venue will initiate the wedding date, catering, number of guests, decor and significantly impact the budget. At Dewsall, we have our in-house catering team to ensure that guests leave with satisfied appetites and happy memories – why not check out our extensive range of menus over on our website
Ceremony or Blessing Location
Where you wish to say ‘I Do’ isn’t only just a big part of planning your wedding, but also one of the most exciting! You may want to get married at your chosen venue, or you may wish to hold the ceremony and reception separately – this may be the case if you’re going to get married at Church. A religious ceremony needs to take place under a particular roof, so keep in mind that you and your guests will need to travel from ceremony to reception venue, affecting how your day is planned out.
As for us, we have multiple on-site options available for each part of your celebrations. You may choose to say ‘I Do’ at the ancient Church in the Dewsall grounds or outside in the gardens taking in the breathtaking views. Exclusive-use allows you to truly make Dewsall Court your own to share unique festivities with your friends and family.
Event Stylist
When planning a wedding, it’s easy to be attracted to several themes or colour palettes. Whilst there is so much gorgeous inspiration around to swoon over, it’s essential to narrow down your choices in the early stages.
Teaming up with a wedding stylist can bring a whole new realm of possibilities and a broader vision to your planning. Through their creative ideas and their responsibility to bring all those important decor and design details together, your dream celebrations can be achieved without stress and pressure.
When you book a Dewsall wedding, you’ll be allocated a dedicated Event Manager to help you with your planning. Our fantastic team are experienced with a wealth of ideas and creativity which they cannot wait to share with you! Why not ask them about our hire list – our gorgeous selection of furniture, props and so much more will make your day picture-perfect. Stay tuned for an exciting Dewsall styling update coming soon!
Wedding Attire
The star of the show in terms of wedding attire is, (you guessed it), the wedding dress! Wedding dresses can be so versatile from sparkles with intricate lace, simple and chic to something more whimsical. The smaller details can also be just as exciting from the shoes, veil, garter and jewellery – all of which can make you feel ready to walk down the aisle.
Bridesmaids dresses and mother of the bride outfits are also something to consider. They should both feel beautiful while also complementing the bride.
For the groom, there are lots of great options so that he can look at his best! Ensuring that they’re comfortable with the suit’s fit and style is essential, as they’ll be wearing it all day for the main event.
Another thing to consider is the overall wedding attire that you want your guests to wear. From cocktail to black tie, the theme of wedding attire can change the feel and atmosphere of the day.
Make-up Artist
Whether you want full glam or something more subtle, a make-up artist can help you choose a look that’ll make you feel beautiful, comfortable and ready to walk down the aisle.
Starting by looking at their previous work, sharing your ideas and having a consultation before the day (Covid-19 allowing) is a great way to find the best artist for you.
Hair Stylist
From intricate updos to long flowing curls, a great hairstyle is a great way to make everyone’s head turn as you enter the room. Some classic wedding hairstyles are a low chignon bun, elegant and vintage-style curls, updo with flowers, long smooth curls, glam long ponytail or a braided half up half down look.
Why not ask your stylist for their input? They can provide you with ideas to help suit your face shape and dress.
Florist
Your wedding flowers will play an essential part in the look of your day, so finding a florist that can create the vision you desire and suggest new ideas is the first place to start.
Arrangements to consider include:
- Bride and bridesmaids bouquets
- Tossing bouquet
- Buttonhole
- Table arrangements/centrepieces
- Aisle/pew arrangements
- Wedding cake flowers

Photographer/Videographer
Capturing special moments throughout the day is a must, so you can look back and reminisce about the treasured memories and smiles shared on that day.
Having a photographer that’ll include natural shots of the couple and their guests but also arrange particular key photos is a great way to capture the day in full.
A videographer isn’t necessarily essential for a wedding, but a video captures the day in a way that photographs just can’t. It’ll bring the day back to life again, seeing the whole process from morning to night, from getting ready to your first dance.
Each photographer and videographer have their own style, so choose the one you think will most naturally capture you. Or why not hire a photo booth at your wedding? Not only for those who shy away from professional cameras but also for those who want extra fun!
Stationery
There’s nothing quite like receiving a gorgeous wedding invitation in the post to build the excitement for the guests! Beautiful wedding stationery sets the tone for the event and gives a great idea of the style of event you are planning.
The different pieces of stationery that you may need depends on the type of wedding you’re planning. It stretches way beyond the just the invitations; you may want to consider ‘be my bridesmaid’ or hen night/stag do invitations, RSVP cards, direction information, evening invitations, ceremony booklet, wedding program, seating plans, place cards, table names/numbers, menu, thank you cards and many more.
Entertainment
When deciding on entertainment, it can be challenging to know what to go for, a band or DJ?
Both can bring unique elements to your wedding celebrations. Some couples choose a mix of both – a live band in the day for the drinks and canape reception, and a DJ for the evening party.
Self-made playlists are fast becoming a replacement of traditional bands and DJs. Just ask your Event Manager about using the Dewsall speaker for your curated soundtrack.
Or why not consider adding the wow-factor to your wedding with a fire show, circus act, magician or ice-cream truck? There is such a variety of additional entertainment to make your wedding one to remember for you and your guests.
Childcare
Keeping the little ones entertained during celebrations is crucial. Opting for wedding day childcare means you can sit back and enjoy your day in the knowledge that your little guests are in safe and professional hands!
